Lagotto Romagnolo

The Lagotto Romagnolo is an authentic Italian breed with centuries-old roots in the Romagna region. Originally bred as a water dog, it has since evolved into the world’s only recognized truffle-hunting dog.

The Lagotto is cheerful, energetic, and extremely sociable. It forms strong bonds with its family and is naturally friendly toward children and other animals. Thanks to its keen sense of smell and eagerness to learn, it is easy to train. It thrives best when its mind is kept active. Boredom in this breed quickly leads to digging adventures in the yard.

• Format: medium-sized, 13–16 kg
• Height at the withers: 41–48 cm (male), 38–45 cm (female)
• Coat: tight, round curls all over the body
• Colors: white, brown, orange, or ‘roan,’ or combinations thereof
• Maintenance: Regular brushing and trimming (2–3 times a year)
• Average lifespan: Ages 15 to 17
