Some of our dogs stop breeding at a certain point, for a variety of reasons. We’ll explain what those reasons are later in this blog. However, that doesn’t mean they deserve any less love. Our rehomed dogs are healthy, social, and sweet dogs that have been part of our breeding program all along. They continue to deserve that love in their new homes. In this article, we’ll explain what a rehomed dog is, why a dog is rehomed, and how you can get to know these dogs.

What is a rehomed animal?

A rehomed dog is usually an adult dog that is no longer part of our breeding program but is still fully ready for life as a full-fledged family dog.

Why is a dog rehomed?

Sometimes, for a very practical reason, a dog no longer fits into the breeding program. Consider an age limit, for example, a 5-year-old dog that is retiring. Or a hereditary trait that we’d rather not pass on to the next generation of puppies. It also happens occasionally that a dog isn’t cut out to be a mother. None of this says anything about the dog’s health or temperament. It simply means that we, as responsible breeders, make conscious choices about which dogs we do or do not continue to breed with. That’s exactly why every rehomed dog deserves a second chapter full of attention, in a family where he or she can enjoy life to the fullest. So for these dogs, we’re looking for a warm, loving home.

What to Expect

Our rescue dogs also receive the same care as our puppies. Every rescue dog is healthy, fully vaccinated and dewormed, microchipped and registered, and has a Belgian (European) passport. Just as important: our rescue dogs have hearts full of love. They are well-adjusted, sociable, and affectionate. After all, they spend time with other dogs and people every day. We’ll also always provide you with an honest description of their temperament, so you know exactly what to expect and what this specific dog’s needs are. That way, you can decide in advance whether this dog will fit into your family and home environment.

How is communication going?

For our rehomed dogs, we deliberately do not use online reservations or require a deposit, as we do for our available puppies. Please feel free to contact us by phone. This way, you can also provide us with more information, or we can schedule a time for you to visit and meet the dog. Still unsure? Feel free to ask any questions you may have; we’d be happy to help you determine whether a rescue dog is a good fit for
that fits your family.

Would you like to take a look?
